Assisted Dying Resource and Assessment Service (Hamilton Health Sciences)

ADRAS is an interprofessional team, comprised of individuals internal to HHS, that is responsible for the supporting and coordinating of the provision of assisted dying within HHS.

​​​The ADRAS must be informed of all formal requests for and assessments of assisted dying for HHS patients.

​Team activities include, but are not limited to:

  • leading the development of clinical and administrative processes to implement assisted dying
  • supporting staff to meet their professional obligations when a patient makes an inquiry about or request for assisted dying
  • assessing patient eligibility
  • supporting clinical staff caring for patients exploring assisted dying
  • reviewing documentation of patients eligibility assessment for assisted dying; and
  • retrospective review of documentation for quality improvement purposes etc.
